Yeah, remember how I said in my last entry that I was making a pixel hotel? Haven't done anything in about a month to it. Instead, I made a whole slew of icons, all PoA as I recall, and I've done a couple of pixel characters as well. Well, now I'm working on another pixel piece, only this time it's a surprise for someone, not mentioning who. It's not turning out half bad, although I've only accomplished minimal details.

I did realize that I enjoy making the little pixel dolls, but that shading is what's killing me. I figure that maybe pixel shading isn't great for things on a large scale, but on my little bouncy creatures, it's pretty good. So I'm still saving up money for PSP8, as I've found a lot of tutorials for that program, both for doll-making and isometric scenes.

In lieu of that, I've downloaded both Irfanview and UnFREEz to use for my art. Irfanview converts images into GIF files so much better than MS Paint, as well as allowing transparency, which is something else that MS Paint doesn't do. UnFREEz is my animation maker, which is very simple to use. All you do is make GIF files and drag them into a box, set the frame time, and it's done. Both of these programs are freeware, and the total time for download was about 5 minutes, even on my crappy dial-up connection. They're not bad, but I know that PSP8 is so much better. But for the interim, these are good programs that are easy to use.

Well, so much for my quick update. Oh well.
